The Vampire's Bride - Atlantis Series

As I sit here trying to get my full serving of fruits and veggies for the day, I ask myself if I want to write another blog. Apparently, I do since I’m typing away on my laptop and thinking about which Atlantis book to write about. Do I want to talk about Gray or Layel? Which book did I like better Jewel of Atlantis or The Vampire’s Bride? Man, that’s a tough one. I, thoroughly, enjoyed both and well have read them a zillion times.

Okay, maybe not a zillion times, but more than once along with Catch a Mate. Marcus Brody is another fav character of mine that Showalter created.

I’ve decided after a couple grapes and a bite of mango, this blog will be about The Vampire’s Bride. Layel is more tortured than Edward Cullen and I wished Layel was real. I fell in love with his character and his pain over losing Susan was so sad. Some women eat up that kind of passion and love a guy or in Layel’s case, vampire, has for his woman. Layel fell in love with a human, Susan, he’s the vampire king in Atlantis. A world under the ocean that the Gods created to put their mistakes when trying to create humans.

After two hundred years of mourning Susan, Layel falls in love again with an Amazon, Delilah. But he fights his feelings for Delilah and feels guilty for his desire for her, because he feels he should continue to love and miss Susan. Man, how could you not fall in love with a character like that?

Anyhoo, as I was reading The Vampire’s Bride I thought to myself it’s scary creatures meets Survivor. Hee hee. The top creatures are whisked to this paradise island and made to prove themselves in tasks that a few of the Gods think up for their mere enjoyment, because the Gods are bored! The Gods are not likeable beings, because they are nasty and hurt Lords and the Atlateans for the enjoyment.

I tried to read the Atlantis books in order, but after reading Layel’s sneak in Heart of the Dragon I was drawn to read his story. I’m wondering are there going to be more Atlantis books. Does Zane find his lady love and will it be Nola? Will we read about Brand and Tagart finding their true love?

Showalter does an excellent job at weaving the love web. When I’m reading the romance unfold and all the characters obstacles in acting on their feelings I yell at the characters in my head to just kiss her already. Tell her you love her and throw her on the bed and give her the best sex she’s ever had!
