Thanksgiving Movie Weekend

Yes, I have a diverse taste in movies. Actually, my favorite movies are the silly ones, such as, Semi-Pro, Old School, Harold and Kumar, Blades of Glory, just to name a few. I'll watch all types of movies except horror ones, but the ones that make me laugh are the ones I'll pick first.

Kung Fu Panda was done well, but it's from the makers of Shrek, so of course it's going to be funny and well-thought out. The Panda dreams of becoming part of the Kung Fu team, but instead he is named the Dragon Warrior. The other Kung Fu fighters do not welcome Panda. He doesn't know Kung Fu, he's fat and clumsy. But in the end Panda is the hero.

It was a fun movie to watch and if you have kids, they will be fully entertained. I liked the storyline how the Panda is seen as an outsider. In the end, he lives up to his Dragon Warrior status.

Hancock is not your typical superhero. He's a homeless drunk. Sure, Hancock saves people and fights crime, but he causes millions of dollars of damage. The public does not welcome him with open arms and the authorities do not think that Hancock is necessary to help catch criminals. Jason Bateman thinks he can help Hancock's image and he does make Hancock into a respected Superhero. However, the movie has a twist.

This was an entertaining movie. I like how it was different from all the other superhero movies, however, I really like Superhero movies and Will Smith. I think I've seen them all Batman, Ironman, The Incredible Hulk, Superman, Catwoman, hmm, I think there's more, but I can't remember them.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I am an Indian Jones fan. I've seen every one of them. The fourth Indiana didn't get rave reviews, but I liked it. The storyline was interesting and I liked that aliens were part of the plot. My husband wasn't impressed with the movie. He thought Shia LeBouf's acting was mediocre, but I thought he was good. I liked him in Transformers and I hope there are more Indiana Jones movies.

Tropic Thunder, yes, I was thoroughly entertained by this movie. There were many scenes that made me laugh and it makes fun of Hollywood. These A-list actors are making a movie about the Vietnam war based on a book written by a vet. Well, things do not go as planned as they are making the movie. Watch it, if you like silly movies, this one will make you laugh.

The Painted Veil was not a movie I chose to watch, but my husband found the storyline interesting. I had nothing else to do so I sat and watched the movie. I liked it. It made me cry and I learned about the Cholera outbreak in China in the 1920s. But the movie in a nutshell, Naomi Watts marries Ed Norton, who is a scientist that studies bacteria. Anyway, Naomi did not love Ed when she married him, she only did it to get away from her mother.

Naomi ends up having an affair with Liev Schreiber, who seems to have many affairs. Ed finds out about the infidelity. He's upset with Naomi and decides they are going to China to figure out the Cholera disease. I can't give away anymore of the movie. The movie is excellent and a love story. Would I call it a chick flick? It could be seen as one, a depressing love story. Anyway, watch it with a box of tissues.
